Normally I'm rather put off by extreme gore in films but I think that because this movie has a slightly more distant take on it that it doesn't bother me so much.
Like The Shining , my very favorite horror film, it focuses more on the disturbing than the disgusting which is what most horror-films, I feel, focus on. In fact if there is any movie I associate this film more closely to than any other it would be The Shining (and that's aside the tidalwave of blood homage). I'm rather sickened by how much this movie is accused of "ripping off" Solaris, The Black Hole, Alien or Hellraiser. These critics to me are nothing but (to quote Lewis Black) eyes with legs.
The thing that sets this film apart from so many other horror-films is the fact that characters for once have some history, background and personality. Their personal traumas and tragedies begin to get reflected on the Event Horizon and I just thought that worked outstandingly well.

So I wonder whether they'll continue onwards from Anderson's film, or just start completely over again. Any thoughts?
